Three Saturdays are in the books and it’s very early.

Its too early for Penn State.
Much too early for the Longhorns.
Florida and Georgia each look strong but it’s too early for them, too.
Tigers? Sorry, too early (LSU, Auburn and Mizzou).
The Red Raiders are explosive, the media loves Ohio State and you can’t sleep on Bama. You get the drill – It’s just too early.
But as for Southern Cal and Oklahoma? Never. Let’s talk Miami.
The BCS Championship Game is January 8 at Dolphin Stadium.
I’m not saying to start booking flights. With all due respect to the SEC, the Sooners have their own gauntlet to run. It includes perennial juggernauts (Texas), up-and-comers (K-State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State) and newly established national powers (Texas Tech, Kansas and in all likelihood, Missouri). Heck, even TCU is a few votes shy of the top 25.
But check out what Mel Kiper, Jr. said about OU:
“I’ve seen a number of explosive, multidimensional, high-octane offenses in my 30 years of covering college football and the NFL, but there are few, if any, that rival what I’ve seen so far this year from the Oklahoma Sooners.”
This should be the key to success for this year’s Sooners. Its offense can hang with any other Big XII offense in a shootout. That’s saying a lot when just last week the Tigers and Red Raiders combined for 112 points.
And don’t forget that new blood has energized the Sooner defense. Travis Lewis looks to be the answer at Linebacker after the departure of Curtis Lofton.
I believe its okay to start talking. It shouldn’t be long before the cost of oranges goes up around Norman. Its much too early, but this is Oklahoma Football.
To show that the Sooner Dudes aren’t completely delusional, I’ll leave you with one more quote from Saturday.
BuckyB: “I want (to play) them (USC in the MNC).”
SchoonerPhil: “I don’t know…”
BuckyB: “Who would you rather play?”
SchoonerPhil: “Someone we can beat.”
